The Four Cousins range of wines named after real-life cousins Hennie, Bussel, Neil and Phillip Retief.
The now well-known four Retief cousins joined forces in the mid 90’s. One after the other, after completing their studies, they joined the family farm, Van Loveren, and today they’re the driving force behind the company. Hennie and Neil are the viticulturists, in charge of the farming units and managing the vines. Bussell is the winemaker and Phillip looks after the business side of things.
Their first big endeavour was introducing the much loved Four Cousins range of wines in 2000. Released in a rather impressive 1,5 litre bottle, it made a lot of noise and today it’s South Africa’s biggest selling bottled wine brand. In fact, Four Cousins is also affectionately known as the country’s favourite vino in a bottle.
The Four Cousins Natural sweet White is a sunshine-coloured wine with a delicate honeysuckle perfume, and flavours of apricots and nougat than lingers softly.
This is a friendly wine, best enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or to complement spicy oriental food, fresh fruit platters or desserts.
No Alcohol can be sold or supplied to anyone under 18. It’s against the law.
